Fine Pet Portraits - an artist's blog

My name is Sandra Palme, I am a professional pet portrait artist based in the UK. I draw your dog, cat horse or any other pet in pastels, charcoal, coloured pencils or graphite. It is my goal to capture the pet's personality and essence as well as their looks. I know how much your pet means to you as I feel the same about mine! New horse portraits - update

Despite an unpleasant migraine and otherwise being rather busy, I have made some progress on the two horse portrait commissions I am currently working on as you can see below. I am hoping to finish the one of the English Thoroughbred mare today - well, almost anyway, as the client is not sure yet what colour to choose for the background.

My latest horse portrait commissions

I've got a lot of equine portrait commissions to do at the moment which I am enjoying very much. I just love horses and, of course, drawing them! I've just done the draft for the pastel head study of 'Picasso', a Dutch Warmblood.
I've also made some progress on the English Thoroughbred's portrait as you can see below.

Simply Sharp - portrait of a Thoroughbred mare

My next commission is a pastel portrait of an English Thoroughbred mare called 'Simply Sharp'. She is one of 4 Thoroughbreds (all related - apparently, 'Sharpo' is a well-known racing horse) that I will be drawing for this client, including Simply Sharp's young son 'Sharpolino', and two others called 'Otxoa' and 'Carlitos'.
So this is the draft of Simply's portrait that I just completed:
