German Shepherd dog information
The German Shepherd Dog (GSD) is a large breed of dog from Germany ("Deutscher Schäferhund"). GSDs are loyal and protective dogs that make great pets and guard / rescue / police dogs.
German Shepherds stand between 55 and 65 cm (22 and 26 inches) at the withers and weigh between 22 and 40 kg (49 and 88 pounds).
German Shepherd dogs can be a variety of colours, such as tan and black and red and black varieties. Both have black masks and saddles. GSD can also be sable, black, white, liver or blue. German Shepherds have a double coat which is close and dense with a thick undercoat. The coat is acceptable in two varieties: medium and long (see dog pet portrait above for both varieties).
German Shepherd dogs are active, fearless and loyal dogs and very popular all over the world.
