Friesian stallion - horse portrait in charcoal

I have just finished another charcoal portrait of the beautiful Friesian stallion 'Dirk van de Jonker'. I was first commissioned to draw him last June - you can check out the first portrait and some photos of Dirk and my portrait here. Very sadly, Dirk passed away last July at only 8 years old and his owner was devastated - he really was an exceptional horse. He is still dearly missed and Dirk's owner loves the new portrait which, so she told me, captures everything she loved about her stallion: his beauty, his strength and that special look in his eyes.

Pet portraits update

Just a quick update to let you know what I'm up to. I have got six Springer Spaniels to do at the moment, all in pastels so I'm quite busy drawing fur and curls! They are all Christmas presents so I'm afraid there won't be any scans at this point.

I have also been commissioned to draw another Friesian stallion in charcoal. As soon as I've started that one, I'll post a scan.

Friesian stallion portrait finished

The charcoal portrait of the Friesian stallion is finished. Unfortunately my scanner threw a wobbly so I had to use my camera. The photo came out far too dark..the paper is actually white.
