Fine Pet Portraits - an artist's blog

My name is Sandra Palme, I am a professional pet portrait artist based in the UK. I draw your dog, cat horse or any other pet in pastels, charcoal, coloured pencils or graphite. It is my goal to capture the pet's personality and essence as well as their looks. I know how much your pet means to you as I feel the same about mine! New horse commission

After several feline portraits - two of which I am still working on - it's back to horses. ;o) My latest horse commission is of a beautiful grey Thoroughbred x Irish Draught mare called 'Bea'. She will be drawn in pastels on A3 sized paper. I have just finished the pencil outline:

Thoroughbred foal full body portrait

A full body study for a change! This foal is a very young Thoroughbred X stallion and he is being drawn in pastels. Quite a small portrait on A4 but thanks to my new set of Faber Castell Pitt pastel pencils, even very fine detail can be achieved. Unlike other pastel pencils, these are not a problem to sharpen.
