Horse portrait finished

The second portrait of the pretty Westphalian mare is finished as well and her owners are very happy. So am I - the reference photo was rather poor so I am very pleased with the result. I am sure the two horse portraits will look great next to each other.

We went to Chessington Zoo yesterday and took some great photos. I might draw a tiger soon if I can make some time...and there's still several meerkat portraits that I'd like to do in charcoal. My 'fun portrait' reference photo list is getting longer and longer....

I have made some progress on the second portrait of the pretty Westphalian horse. Her owners are over the moon with portrait 1 so I'm determined to make portrait 2 a success as well! ;o)

This is the pencil outline of the second horse portrait I mentioned; it is of the same Westphalian mare but from a different reference photo and will also be drawn in pastels.

I just couldn't put my pencils down - I really enjoyed drawing this beautiful Westphalian mare. So here's a scan of the finished pastel painting:

Still not feeling too great but I have been trying to work whenever possible so managed to finish the portrait of 'Abigayl de Luxe' - the chestnut mare.
