Fine Pet Portraits - an artist's blog

My name is Sandra Palme, I am a professional pet portrait artist based in the UK. I draw your dog, cat horse or any other pet in pastels, charcoal, coloured pencils or graphite. It is my goal to capture the pet's personality and essence as well as their looks. I know how much your pet means to you as I feel the same about mine! Dog and horse portrait - pastel and water colour

Spring has sprung! What a lovely day today...was it sunny where you are? We went for a long walk in the local nature reserve and it was great.
I have finished a couple of pencil drafts for two new commissions but I'll show you those in my next blog post. Here's two new portraits for you to look at first...
One I mentioned before of a dachshund X from a rather old and thus poor photo...I am pleased how it turned out. The second one is a watercolour portrait of a Friesian mare - I really enjoyed painting this beautiful horse.

New dog and horse portraits

I've been busy - no snow in here to stop me from working I guess!
I have finished a pastel portrait of a dog called 'Lissi' (a Border Collie X) and started a horse portrait - also a pastel, of an Arab X gelding. Here's a couple of scans for you to look at!

First equine watercolour painting finished

It's done! I am very pleased with how my very first watercolour has turned out and I am sure there'll be many more to come! I enjoyed painting it and can't wait to start another. However, there are three pastel commissions and a donation that I'll work on first.
