Fine Pet Portraits - an artist's blog

My name is Sandra Palme, I am a professional pet portrait artist based in the UK. I draw your dog, cat horse or any other pet in pastels, charcoal, coloured pencils or graphite. It is my goal to capture the pet's personality and essence as well as their looks. I know how much your pet means to you as I feel the same about mine! And another two scans...the first Norwegian Fjord horse is now finished. I will add his whiskers later when I've done the background.

Shetland pony portrait

I have just finished yet another horse portrait! This is 'Nayeli' (a native American word for 'I love you'), a cute little Shetland pony mare. She was drawn in pastels. Her young owner is over the moon happy with this portrait. :o)

I've got a rare bird portrait commission coming up next (yay! I love budgies!) and one of a dog.

New horse portrait - bay mare

I have been commissioned to draw two (different) pastel paintings of a bay German mare whose father's sire is the famous Westphalian stallion 'Pilot'. Here's a scan of the work in progress:

Pastel horse portrait WIP

Although I didn't get a huge amount of work done on Bea's portrait over the past couple of days, I thought I could still show a quick update:

Horse portrait and dog pastel finished

I just finished two portraits - the one of the Oldenburg mare and her owner and also the one of the poodle called Rosie. The reference photo was rather poor so I'm fairly happy how it turned out. Also started a portrait of a Siamese cat (scan to follow). Busy busy busy! ;o)
