2011 appears to have been a great year for voles - and thus it is now a
great winter
Short-eared Owls that like to have these poor little rodents for dinner.
In November 2011 I saw my first ever Short-eared Owl - in fact, it was
also my first ever (wild) owl.
And there wasn't just one but about four at
the same time! What a majestic bird and what a wonderful feeling to be able
to watch it in the wild (where it belongs).
I am hoping to be able to get some better shots of Short-eared owls soon -
maybe they'll come a bit closer and the light will be slightly better.
But I am very happy to have seen my first owls in the wild and I got a few
nice
shots too!
